St. Louis

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to accompany my very important fiancé on his business trip to St. Louis, MO. I figured since none of his co-workers were accompanying him, I would tag along for the ride, and since it didn't cost much for me to go, it was a very doable mini-vaca.
Our hotel was actually in the middle of a shopping mall, and surprisingly enough, I only spent $20!! I spent most of the time lounging around in the room enjoying my time off from work. We did do some sight-seeing, we toured the famous "Arch", saw the brand new baseball stadium and attempted to walk to the Anheuser-Busch (Budweiser) Brewery (which was supposed to be only 3 miles away) but ended up walking through a ghetto, so we turned around!

HR Farewell

Last week marked #2 and #3 of our HR employees saving themselves and pursuing other jobs! Unfortunately, our company is joining the bandwagon and moving to a "shared service" way of handling their human resource functions, which basically means that they will cut jobs and in the end possibly save a few bucks. What it means for our devoted workers is that they lose their jobs. I was the first to go, I took a promotion as a planner/buyer in the front office - not too shabby, a raise, a laptop, no timesheets (I am now exempt, not hourly)!
I finally got back my motivation to go to work every day - it's hard when you feel as though you are in a dead end job, doing the same routine things every day. All I needed was that extra push that the possibility of my job being eliminated to motivate me to pursue another career and I absolutely LOVE it! Here are some pictures of our farewell gathering to Tonia and Ty.

Short People (Vertically Challenged)

Since everyone feels the need to put songs on their blog I felt that I had to join the crowd. Here it goes,

Last year Erin and I were driving in the car on our way out to lunch and the most prejudiced song came over the radio. Here are the lyrics

Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live

They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
`Round here

Short People are just the same
As you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers
Until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)

Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
'Round here

The Big Move, Phase I

Well, it has happened, Erin & Jermaine have completed phase I of their big move : (
It is so hard because as happy as we are for them - we are just as sad at the same time! It is not often that you get to meet people as wonderful as them and the only thing that you can hope for is that your friendship can last the distance once they move. We love you guys!

Wedding Update

I was told that I have to tell everyone that we are finally registered for our wedding at Bed, Bath & Beyoond. What a fun day it was for my mom and I to go last Saturday and register. I never would have been able to do it if she wasn't with! Thanks mom! Here is the link to our registry

St. Patty's Day

I have to tell everyone that I am one of the worst bloggers ever! I am making it my personal goal to at least update this thing once a week! I was finally able to download the pictures from St. Patty's Day onto the computer and sit my ass down to write a little something!

Joe and Katy at the Glenside pub enjoying some PDA!

John and I taking the same picture that we always pose for!

I was the designated driver that night, so it was fun to be able to make fun of everyone while they were sloshed. Especially when John and I went in to Wawa for some midnight snacks and he was dancing (aka - flailing his arms and bosom around in almost a violent manner and trying to thrust himself at me in the store) to James Brown. To anyone who has ever seen John dance before, you know what I'm talking about!

Breaking Bread with Sebastian

We had dinner at our house with my parents recently. The main course was Kristy's delicious chicken parmesan and spaghetti and she doesn't eat meat...but she sure likes the bone! Does anyone remember that song? "She don't eat meat, but she sure like the bone" Anyway, Sebastian joined us at the dinner table and enjoyed garlic bread and a Coors Light. It was cute, so we started taking pictures. However, Sebastian started running his mouth after about half a can of beer. He is such a lightweight. Here are excerpts of our conversation.

Sebastian on his love of geometry:
(Sebastian talking to my dad)

Sebastian: Jack, you don't remember the definition of Pythagorean theorem?
Jack (aka my dad): No Sebastian.
Sebastian: Its like, uhm, like, uh...In any right triangle, the area of the square whose side is the hypotenuse is equal to...oh damn...I can't remember...I love geometry. Did I tell you that?
Jack (aka my dad): No Sebastian.
Sebastian: Aww man. That's cool. Give me some pounds man (Sebastian reaches his paw out to my dad for some pounds and my dad reluctantly reciprocates) Dude, can you get me another beer when you get up? You can get one for yourself too. This is my house and all.
Jack (aka my dad): Sebastian, you are only a few sips into your first beer. I can only have one beer myself, because I'm on this new diet.
Sebastian: Diet, eh. Yeah, well, good luck with that (Sebastian turns his head away and snickers). No man, that's great. I should go on a diet (Sebastian breaks out into laughter and couldn't finish his sentence)...too. I'm sorry. I love you, pop pop.
Jack (aka my dad): Shut the f!@# up Sebastian. Eat your bread.
End of conversation

Next conversation
My mom is asking Sebastian if he is excited about our wedding

Pat (aka My Mom): Sebastian, aren't you excited about Kristy and John's wedding? It's going to be on the Moshulu, which is a big boat on the Delaware River.
Sebastian: Oh I'm sure it will be a blessed time. Hey, who do you think is most likely to fall off the boat, Stan or the bald kid, what's his name...oh yeah...Pyle. I have 3:1 odds that Pyle falls off, but Stan will be involved.
Pat (aka My Mom) (laughing): No one will fall off the boat. Where do you come up with this stuff?
Sebastian: Hey...uh...Pat...why don't you wear me around your neck like I'm a mink shawl. Then I can grab a drink and some eats and we won't have to pay for me as a person. The cheap guy will appreciate that one. Are they having Friskie's Turkey and Gravy canned food? Hell, I'll settle for some friggin Meow Mix. Seriously. Hey, did I tell you that guy..uhm..(Sebastian is pointing in my direction desperately trying to remember my name)
John (angrily): My name is John, Sebastian you f!@#ing d!@#$bag.
Pat (aka My Mom): John, watch your mouth.
Sebastian: Ah hah. Your mommy yelled at you. Oh man, this is great. I love you guys.
Sebastian gestures to my mom to come closer as he attempts to whisper something.

Sebastian (whispering): Hey, John is so cheap, he tried to use coupons with his food stamps (Sebastian and my mom erupt in laughter).
End of Conversation

Well, we had to call it a night. Sebastian got mad at Kristy, because she took his beer away from him when he still had a few swigs left.

Oh well. A few minutes later Sebastian ralffed at the dinner table.

I was never so happy to clean up after the cats.

The moral of this story is do not let cats drink. They're not very fun when drunk.

The Girls...

...the last time you will see them together sober. We had drinks at Chickie's during the afternoon. All except Erin. She was sniffing glue in the parking lot. Oh wait, I was sniffing glue. She had two Corona's (ah hah! Now Jermaine will know). This past Saturday I arranged for all of my bridesmaids to get together to try on dresses, have some drinks (and lunch), and get acquainted. It was a great day and we actually found dresses that everyone liked!

This is Danielle & Annie at Chickie's and Pete's. Annie has a straw in her Coors Light, because in her words "I'm gettin' inebriated today" (yes, she did say inebriated)

Erin & I (at the same place)

I am so thankful to have these three women in my life that are going to share a part of my special day! It was special until Danielle puked in the car when the cop pulled me over for cutting off an entire row of trafic in downtown Philly. I'm glad I didn't get locked up, because when the cop told me to go around everyone I said, "Don't tell me what to wear, Cookie Monster!". I was intoxicated to say the least.

PS - This is how it really went down, Erin. Remember?

In reality, no one got wasted, desired to be inebriated, sniffed glue, puked or...oh wait. I did cut-off an entire row of traffic. It was a real nice get together and I hope to do it again when the weather gets nice.

BTW - This blog entry was totally fabricated by this guy...

A weekend with Aiden & Riley

So, John's patience was tested this past weekend in terms of future child rearing...

On Friday, after a long and boring work meeting in Somerset, NJ, I headed up to Allentown to pick up my nephews Aiden & Riley (ages 5 and 3 respectively). We came back to our house and made pizzas and stayed up until our eyes couldn't stay open anymore! Needless to say, the kids were up until 1 am (I was passed out). 7:15 am "Auntie Kristy, Auntie Kristy can I have some french toast" Aiden belts out. Rubbing my eyes to see what time it was I say "sure sweetie" and began the day! We had a fun day - Uncle John building forts in the living room, Riley playing teletubbies on the "puter", stopping by Erin's house to see Amelle (after her birthday party), taking naps, and going to Pizzeria Uno for dinner. Oh, they also got to try out our jacuzzi tub - note to self, use less bubble bath in a tub that has jets! I spent the entire time with a towel wiping up suds that were overflowed!

Aiden with his "Bubble Beard"

Riley, trying not to get soap in his eyes!

Thankfully, even though Aiden was up until midnight Saturday, he slept in until 9 am Sunday! As hectic as our weekend was, it is so great to spend time with our nephews!

John's Hair - Take II

John and I seem to be having an unspoken race to grow our hair the longest before the wedding. Let's see how far he has been coming along:

I think he may even have a chance for America's top model!!

Kristy & Jen's engagement lunch

I feel bad because I waited so long to post these to our blog!! Back on December 29, 2005 my cousin Missy (from Chicago) wanted to take Jen (her brother Dave's fiance) and me out to a very nice lunch to celebrate our recent engagements. So, me, Jen, Missy, my mom, my aunt Brenda, my cousin Mike's girlfriend Colleen, and my cousin Tanya all went to the Blue Mountain Summit for lunch. It was nice to have all of us together - it really makes you appreciate the importance of your family! Here are some picures...

Bathroom Update

I promise you all that by this weekend we will finally post pictures of the finalized bathroom. We have had a working shower for the past two weeks, but no toilet or sink. We have finally picked out the sink we want, so now that the floor tile is layed we can install the toilet and sink...ughh! I can't wait until it's done!

Still no shower!!!

This past week we have started our bathroom renovation. This picture here is our old tub - it weighs about two hundred pounds and the walls surrounding it were covered in "PINK" tile ...uugghh!

Pink tile and yes pink walls - pink, pink pink!! I do love the color, but not in my bathroom. John has been doing such a great job with help from his dad on this bathroom project, but showering at other people's houses is becoming somewhat of a nuisance!

Today is the day that John, his dad and his friend Mike will be installing our new jacuzzi tub....hopefully. I will keep you all posted on the progress!

Christmas 2005

John and I at my Pappy's house visiting with my father's side of the family.

Finally, a new family portrait! It took a couple shots before Riley would "pose" for the camera.

My cousins Davey and Mikey were lighting fireworks for the kids to watch, so while we were all outside I was able to take this awesome shot!

Christmas Eve

Well the count down is officially on! It is Christmas Eve day and I have about 3 more gifts to buy (along with something to wear tonight & tomorrow)! John seems to have everything done - we've officially decided that we cannot go shopping together ever again! To all the girls - need I say more?!?

This year we are going to the Quinn's family annual Christmas Eve party, then we will be with my family on Christmas Day. It is so much fun watching the little ones open their gifts! Davey and Annie (aka Annue) make a killer brunch, then we stop by Pappy's to see the Jones side, then finish off the night at Aunt Brenda and Uncle Dave's house.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Everyone!

Another Wednesday night

Is it Coolio?

No, it's John. He needs a haircut so desperately that I am forced to experiment with it! (You can see how we spend our weeknights)! I think it's actually time for one of his semi-annual cuts. We'll see.........

BLOGS ARE DUMB

I'm told I have to blog. I don't even know what blog means. I'm certain its a hybrid of two words Blow - Fog
Benefactor - Log

Anyway, I guess I'll have to find a cool picture of me. They may be tough to find. I'm trying to convince Kristy to go to work today. I have a vacation day today and now it is ruined.
